WoW Tips for Proper Role Playing
March 28, 2010 4:08 am News and SocietyRole playing in World of Warcraft can be a fun experience that enhances your game time. However, there are a few WoW tips you should keep in mind before jumping into the world of role playing. A poor role player can quickly earn themselves enemies both in character and out of character. Don’t let that scare you away from attempting to create a story line. Instead, learn the best WoW tips and etiquette rules to get you started.
Know Who you Are
Before you jump into a role play story line, know who you are. Come up with a solid back story for your character. This should rank high among your role playing WoW tips because without a good history, you will have trouble knowing how to act and respond to certain dialogue. You don’t have to have every last detail sorted out, but you should know where your character came from, any groups or factions he or she is associated with, and a history that explains any personality quarks, such as a dislike of elves or an affection for dwarves. Be Logical
Pay careful attention to these WoW tips. This is where some players go horribly wrong. You are obviously interested in getting involved right away. However, be patient and stay true to your character. An aloof loner is not going to walk up to the first person he or she sees and strike up a conversation. They are also less likely to get involved in a situation or disagreement, unless something is relevant to their background.
One good way to help speed up this step is to have friends help you get “introduced” into an existing story line. If you know other role players, ask them for their best WoW tips and see if they will help bring you into the story. This alleviates some of the anxiety because you know you will get involved and can easily stick with the order of action.
Stay in Character
Avoid changing your character to suit a certain situation, even if it is in an effort to assist a friend or acquaintance in a story line. You should strive to keep your character true to his or her nature regardless of out of character associations. This helps keep role play natural and strong. It could be one of the most recommended WoW tips for role playing because your fellow participants will appreciate your dedication to the character.
If you have a friend who needs some role play assistance that would require your character to go against his or her nature, consider an alternative. You could always create a second role play character that has a personality that better suits the action required. Plus, it could be fun to try different types of role play with different personalities. Stick with these WoW tips and you will enjoy an entertaining role play career. Plus, many other role players will appreciate your dedication and attention to detail and request to role play with you again and again!
