When you walk in, or log in, to a maternity store, you will see that the fashion’s available are much the same that you find in the juniors or misses department of any department store.  The maternity tops come in vivid bright colors along with the basic neutrals.  The pants are available in casual style jeans or a more formal style of dress slacks.  Dresses range from fitted to flowing.  Tailored suits are available for those mandatory corporate meetings.  Active wear has also made its way into the land of maternity clothing.

In addition to maternity tops and bottoms, retailers have also realized the demand for swim wear.  Most maternity swim wear comes in two pieces; this style is often referred to as a tankini.  A swim suit bottom is worn under the belly and a coordinating swim suit top comes down to cover the belly.  Some women simply love the idea of showing off that baby belly, so for the more daring, a bikini swim suit may be the style of choice.  One piece swim suits are also available, though the selection is not as great.  For those mommies to be that are more modest about their new shape, swim suit cover ups also come in maternity wear.  These are available in several style from a simple wrap skirt to a full baby doll style dress.

The most important thing to remember when shopping for maternity tops, bottoms and swim wear is to have fun!  Your body is changing, but try to view those changes as beautiful.  After you have had the baby, you will fondly pat your once again flat tummy and think of how cute you looked in maternity wear.
