How Has FAIR Responded To The Immigration Problem?
June 4, 2010 11:09 am News and SocietyThe Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is one of the more recognizable faces in the debate on illegal immigration. They have stated that they support stricter laws and regulations and work toward stopping all illegal immigration. As their policies and opinions are questioned, though, they have responded and made their position known through various channels.
The Federation for American Immigration Reform has stated on numerous occasions that they believe there is a non-discriminatory and humane way to stop people from entering the country illegally, and that this kind of control is necessary to support the national interests.
In other words, the Federation for American Immigration Reform believes that the current levels of illegal immigration are not sustainable and are causing many different problems. They cite the rising crime rate in some areas and the situation with jobs and wages as examples of these problems. One of the other problems that is often mentioned is the problem with national security. If the border does not have enough security it will be very hard to stop criminals, traffickers, and terrorists from entering the country.
FAIR’s response to these issues is to try and improve border security by implementing more advanced technology that will help to identify criminals and others that need to be stopped. They have also stated that they believe the laws that are already in place need to be more strongly enforced.
Their most controversial statements, though, is that they support a complete moratorium on all immigration until a complete resolution can be found. Of course, the question has to be asked: are measures as drastic as that really necessary? After all, the debate will continue either way, and as different organization continue to promote their own agendas and speak on their own opinions, the country will continue to consider its options on this issue.
