On the 18th of November 2009 I was given a task by Julie Smith to send a memo. Julie gave me a rough copy of the memo she wanted me to send . It was to be done on the computer and I used a template in Microsoft Word to make sure it was set out properly, and I did not produce any waste. In the job description Julie asked me to put the college logo onto the top of the memo. As this would look more professional. To get the logo I had to go onto the ‘shared files’ system in ‘my computer’ and transfer the file into my area.  The memo was asking for Lynda Jones to return some desktop water coolers that she had previously borrowed from the admin centre. But to make sure this information was correct I checked in the loans book to see if there was a record of them being returned. Next I wrote out the memo and filled in who it was going to, from, the date and the subject. But before printing it out and sending it I checked for errors in all of the necessary ways. I spell checked my work, before print previewing it in order to hopefully reduce waste.  Whilst proofreading my work I noticed a couple of problems, so I had to deal with them. Firstly the spacing between the lines was not wide enough. So to solve this problem I went into ‘page layout’ and selected ‘paragraph’ then changed the spacing. The second problem was the font size. It was too small on the page, so all I did to solve this was select all of the text and change the font to a bigger, more readable size.   After doing this I printed out the memo and delivered it to Lynda Jones, next as requested, I emailed a copy of the memo to Clive Medlicott. After doing this I waited for Lynda Jones to reply to my memo. And sure enough about half an hour after she did. Saying that she had already returned the coolers to the admin centre. After sending out both copies of the memo I had completed the task within the set deadline and Julie was pleased.  After saving my work, I logged of the computer in order to protect files and protect the computer system from people who should not be using it.

We need new media tools, and since the global economy is moving along at a rapid pace, we need them fast. While the internet has done wonders to promote many topics, we need to utilize it more to teach math and science to our children. Children need to be taught the wonders of math, and how it can enrich their lives, and prepare them for fabulous careers in the future.
